
The two-day conference, “Qualitative Research for Caribbean Development,” will be taking place at the School of Education at the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica on October 29-31, 2009.
In this conference, “development” is seen as the human, social, intellectual, educational, cultural advancements of Caribbean people within the region and in the diaspora. The keynote speakers are Gloria Ladson-Billings (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Aggrey Brown (University of the West Indies-Mona), Barry Chevannes (University of the West Indies-Mona), and Francis Stage (New York University). Pre-conference activities include “An Afternoon in Creole” and “Critical Inquiry: Qualitative or Quantitative.” There will also be workshops held throughout the two days, such as The “Critical” in Critical Ethnography, Data Analysis in Qualitative Research, Mixed Methods, and Autoethnography.
