The exhibit by artist Miguel Paredes will show how native plants of Florida and the Caribbean build bridges between different cultures. Local artists’ paintings, weavings, sculpture and photography show the “roots” not only of the plants, but also of cultural stories. The subject of plants being used for enjoyment, decoration, building materials, utensils, foods and medicines will be explored.
“Common Roots” will be on display 9 a.m.-5 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 10, at Miami Beach Botanical Garden, 2000 Convention Center Drive. Admission is free. For more information, call 305-673-7256 or visit mbgarden.org.
