MSA Xperimental Art and her fellow artists mourn the death of Chezelle Torres (1973-2009). This young artist specialized in sculpture at the School of Visual Arts [Escuela de Artes Plásticas] of Puerto Rico, working closely with Mercedes Quiñones. As a student, she received several awards in yearly student exhibitions and in 1998 she received the Arnaldo Roche-Rabell Scholarship. She participated in various collective exhibitions around the island, such as the recent Galería Botello’s “Cuatro Mujeres” [Four Women] in May 2008. Torres received an honorable mention at the Casa Roig Visual Arts Contest for “Sin título,” the mixed media work shown here.
