
Ateliers Jérôme [Jérôme Studios], located in Pétion Ville, Haiti, present “Gesner Armand, Graphic Artist and Watercolorist,” until July 7. This exhibition is an invitation to revisit the graphic artist´s work from 1958 to 2008.
Born in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, Gesner Armand is known for brightly colored images of birds, animals, landscapes, and still life, began painting seriously when he was fourteen years old and was enrolled at the Haitian Art Center of Port-au-Prince. He spent time in Mexico and France, where he received a scholarship to study at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris. He returned to Haiti in 1963 where he developed and flourished as an artist. Armand participated in more than 15 solo exhibitions and 40 collective shows in over 15 countries. He is considered to be one of Haiti´s best contemporary painters.
