A new and monumental anthology of Haitian poetry, Cahier-Haiti, has been published this year. James Noël and Rodney Saint-Éloi report that this volume is considered to be a gold mine because it gathers a great number of poets and artists from three generations, thus conciliating two types of art. Over 600 pages long, it is divided into three parts according to generations, 20’s-40’s, 50’s-60’s, and 70’s-80’s. This volume also serves to “deterritorialize” and to situate Haiti at the heart of the world and diversity. It includes authors —painters or poets— who are based in Canada, France, and the United States, although most reside in Haiti.
