Junot Diaz and Edwidge Danticat Featured in Photo Exhibit and Book

campton

If any of you plan to be in New Hampshire (USA) between now and May 9, Phillips Exeter Academy is hosting an exhibit of photographs by Nancy Crampton, official photographer of the Unterberg Poetry Center at the 92nd Street Y, famous for its literary readings. Hundreds of book jackets and magazine articles have featured her photographs. The exhibit stems from her 2006 book Writers, which includes more than a hundred sensitive duotone portraits of major novelists, poets, and playwrights. Paired with the photographs are texts from each writer on writing-thoughts on the craft, recollections of significant moments from their personal history, meditations on the civic importance of writing, and so forth. Among the writers included in the book are two Caribbean-American authors-Edwidge Danticat and Junot Díaz.
